Ever since she starred in and produced The Sinner you can sign us up to anything Jessica Biel is involved in. And her latest project, Cruel Summer, looks like it'll be another massive success. The thriller follows the intertwined stories of two girls, Kate and Jeanette over three summers in the 1990s, after Kate vanishes one night without a trace.
Here's everything we know about Cruel Summer.
What is Cruel Summer about?
Cruel Summer follows unpopular teenager Jeanette Turner over three years as her life is thrown into chaos after the disappearance of the wealthy and popular Kate Wallis. While Jeanette longs to be part of the cooler crowd, her bid for popularity eventually sees her accused of being connected to Kate's disappearance and she soon becomes a despised outcast.
But is Kate's disappearance as simple as that? And was Kate who she said she was? Set over three summers during the 1990s the series explores the mystery through several points of view, constantly challenging our idea of what we think we know.
The series, which airs in the US this month, is executive produced by The Sinner star Jessica Biel, who recently spoke passionately about the project.
"This is a project that I would have wanted to do if I was their age," Biel said to Deadline of the cast. "I would have loved to play one of these characters."
Who has been cast in Cruel Summer?
Pretty Little Liar star Chiara Aurelia will play lead character Jeanette Turner alongside Cloak & Dagger star Olivia Holt as Kate Wallis. Elsewhere in the cast Teen Wolf's Froy Gutierrez stars as Jamie Henson alongside Michael Landes (Gold) and Harley Quinn Smith (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood).
There are some big names behind the camera too. Alongside executive producer Jessica Biel, Tia Napolitano (Grey's Anatomy), Michelle Purple (The Sinner, Limetown) and Nicole Colombie (Dear White People) also serve as executive producers.
When is Cruel Summer being released?
Cruel Summer is being released in the US on 20th April, and while we don't have a set UK release date it's expected to land here very soon.
