Twitter users compare Jennifer Lopez's Golden Globes dress to 'giant Christmas present'
Jennifer Lopez isn’t usually one to put a sartorial foot wrong but her Golden Globe Awards 2020 dress has divided viewers.
On Sunday evening the Hustlers star returned to the ceremony as a nominee for the first time in 20 years, and she made sure her invitation didn’t go unnoticed.
Bringing the phrase “Big Dress Energy” into the new year, Lopez stepped out in a sweeping Pierpaolo Piccioli for Maison Valentino gown frock decked in cream, emerald and gold hues.
If that wasn’t enough to keep the fashion crowd fixated, the dress also boasted a gigantic bow on the bodice.
The songstress didn’t stop there – 145 carats worth of Harry Winston jewellery accessorised the ensemble, with her vintage bracelet dating back to 1959.
A slick braided topknot was all that was needed to finish the conversation-stealing look.
But even her unwavering red carpet track record wasn’t enough to bag her sartorial points on Twitter, as users battled to figure out what her latest look reminds them of.

A number of people couldn’t see past the surprising seasonal hues and compared Lopez’s ensemble to a belated Christmas present.
New York Times fashion critic Vanessa Friedman tweeted: “Jennifer Lopez has come as a giant present. I thought we were past that.”
“Oh #JenniferLopez what is that dress?” a second Twitter user wrote. “Christmas is over so why wrap yourself like a present?”
A third added: “Jennifer Lopez’s dress = a king sized down comforter you tried to gift wrap.”
One user even made a hilarious comparison to Ryan Reynolds’ famous festive knit and now we can’t unsee it.

Jennifer Lopez’s dress looks like the present that aunt Ethel wrapped and shoved under the Christmas tree in 1935 and it’s been there for 90 years
