Jennifer Garner Has the Most Relatable Parenting Rule for Herself
The queen of relatability.
In the Garner household, rules don't just apply to the kids. In fact, Jennifer Garner has a few mandates in place for herself when it comes to parenting her and Ben Affleck's kids, Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12.
In a new interview with People, the actress revealed that she has been learning to relinquish control as their kids get older. However, as the queen of relatability, she admitted that letting them make their own decisions can be "so hard."

"I mean, my parents did too, and I'm so amazed by that," she said before adding phrases and sentiments she tries to avoid. "I have a really hard time not saying, 'This is what I see you as,' and 'I think you should.' I really have to sit on my hands."
All in all, though, Garner said that the three are in a really good place and are "really solid right now" before adding that she loves to watch them living out their lives.
"I'm just watching them in this new phase of life where they're figuring out who they're going to be and what they're going to study," she continued. "And I'm so interested in them. All the time, I'm interested in everything about them."
Last year, Garner made an appearance on Live With Kelly and Mark, during which she shared that her and Affleck's eldest Violet — who is now 18 years old — has been starting to look at colleges.
"It is exciting," the actress said. "I can see the stress — even though the excitement and stress go hand in hand. But she's handling it like a champ, and she's totally in charge. I'm not having to say, 'Are you doing this, are you doing this?' She's a self-starter. And I'm just proud of her no matter what."
