Turning 50 sparked a big shift in Jennie Garth as she wasn't sure what she wanted to do with her life next. As a longtime vet of the acting game, creating a clothing line isn't something she initially envisioned being a part of her journey.

"When I turned 50, I really was trying to figure out my next move. I wasn't sure what I was doing for a living anymore, and I decided that I would like to focus on trying to help people or spread some positivity," Garth, 52, tells PEOPLE exclusively. "And that's the message behind the brand, Me by Jennie Garth."

The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum's new collaboration with QVC offers relaxed, easy and refined styles in modern silhouettes. It was created with the QVC customer in mind, with sizes ranging from XXS to 3X or 0-32 and prices ranging from $49 to $129.

"It's all about trying to help people," Garth says. "And when I say that regarding the fashion line, [I] just really want to create looks for women who may need a little help with their outfit choices and maybe they want to reinvent themselves. Maybe they want to feel a little bit more empowered in their clothes, whether they're just hanging out at home or going to work, or going to pick up the kids. If you put yourself together just a little bit, it makes you feel more confident."

Garth, however, admits that "starting a brand at age 50 was daunting."

"I struggled a lot with imposter syndrome and doubting myself and wondering, 'What are you doing?' But then I started to counteract those messages and say, 'Why not you? You should try it. Just giving myself the encouragement," she shares. "That was the most helpful thing I could have done for myself."

Working on the product line has been "incredibly liberating" for Garth, who adds, "It's been so much growth and so much learning along the way, and also bonding with not only my team but my daughter, Lola, who is my second in command."

Of her daughter's involvement specifically, Garth notes that Lola, 21, has "taken on doing this whole thing with me."

"Thank God. She's so well-organized. I don't know what I'd do without her," she says of her second eldest child. "She's just a really smart cookie, and I went to her and I said, 'I'm embarking on this journey. It's a big, big journey and I would like to know if you would like to be a part of it?' I said, 'You don't have to answer me right now. You can think about it.' And she came back and said, 'I want to help you with it.'"

"From the get-go, she just really recognized where she could be of assistance and what she could take on so that I didn't have to take on certain things," she adds. "There's a lot of emailing, there's a lot of phone calls, there's a lot of design meetings, there's a lot of shipping and samples, and she really helps in every aspect. So I could not be more happy to have her part of it."

The upcoming collection's first launch is inspired by the colors and textures of the California Central Coast, with all the denim pieces being made with a recycled "REPREVE Our Ocean" fabrication, polyester viscose. It's sourced from post-consumer plastic bottles before they end up in the ocean.

For Garth, it's also important for customers to know that "these clothes are meant to simplify their lives and to empower them and make them feel good in what they're wearing." But she also feels as if she's just getting started with her evolving brand.

"There's so much more I want to do with it. So I really bit off a lot, initially, with doing the [I Choose Me] podcast, and launching the brand, and doing the fashion line. And so, I am chewing on all of that right now," she explains. "It's going to be amazing. I'm so looking forward to everything being a success. And then, I will see where I am [and] what's next."

The star adds, "We're on our way to creating a multifaceted brand that will encompass fashion, athletic wear, skincare, makeup. I'm ready for it all. I have so much enthusiasm about it."

Me by Jennie Garth officially launches on QVC on July 29.
