Jenna Dewan has shared details about her upcoming nuptials to fiancé Steve Kazee, revealing the pair are planning to throw a sustainable wedding.

Kazee popped the question to Dewan during her baby shower, days before the arrival of the couple’s first child together, Callum, last March. Dewan’s daughter Everly (Evie), from her first marriage to Channing Tatum, knew about the proposal and kept it secret from her mother until the big moment.

‘I still have no idea how she kept it a secret. She's only seven! She and Steve had a whole thing and she came running out. We were all in tears,’ she tells The Knot of the proposal.

As for the couple’s nuptials, Dewan has said that she is more preoccupied with having a ‘meaningful gathering rather than the lavish party’ and with a focus on sustainability.

‘I think it would be really beautiful to have a sustainable wedding dress or work with a designer to create something that is sustainable,’ she told the publication. ‘And I love the idea of recycled invites.’

‘There are some incredible ways to work with flowers. I worked with Forage Florals for my blessingway, and the owner was incredible. All the flowers are sourced within a five-mile radius and totally dependent on what's in season.’

The Come Dance With Me judge noted that she hopes to find a local, organic farm-to-table caterer and donate the wedding meal leftovers after the big day.

‘There are a lot of ways to be sustainable. And you can still have a gorgeous wedding and something you feel good about. You feel like you're bettering the world,’ she added.

While Dewan remained tight lipped on the wedding date and location, she hinted it could be a ‘destination wedding, like gathering our families and a few great friends in Palm Springs for the weekend.

‘We have so many ideas still floating around, but they all boil down to this: presence, connection and togetherness,’ she said, adding that her children will certainly take part in the proceedings.

'Evie would never forgive me if I did not let her be the flower girl,' she joked. 'She would never speak to me again—that's how much it means to her. I will for sure keep the tradition of incorporating Evie and Callum in the wedding. I love the tradition of incorporating my mum and my dad too.'

The star’s eco wedding wishes are in keeping with her engagement ring, which was made by actor Nikki Reed’s jewellery company BaYou with Love. ‘Everything is made from sustainable materials—like they melt down Dell computers and use the gold,’ she said. ‘She grows these beautiful diamonds in a lab too. Steve had been working with her for months to design the ring. I am just obsessed with it.’

In the years since her marriage ended to Tatum in 2018, the actor said she thinks she’s become more grounded and present.

‘When you're younger, you don't put as much thought into everything,' she reflected. 'You kind of do what you know and what's been done before. As you get older, you have a little bit more wisdom and more consciousness in everything.’
