Jeff Goldblum's Loewe Days Are Upon Us
Over the years, you’ve probably seen a few style-related stories about Jeff Goldblum, and for good reason! He's been dressing well for decades. But the 71-year-old inspired a noticeable amount of headlines back in the winter of 2022, when he made his modelling debut on the Prada catwalk.
Dressed in a navy overcoat with an armband-esque fur trim, the whisperings of many fashion circles became a reality: Jeff Goldblum is a Prada man. (Or, as one memorable headline stated, a Pra-daddy.)
This was by no means a shock. The Jurassic Park star has been wearing the Italian brand for years by that point, as heavily pictured when you search ‘Jeff Goldblum shirts’ on Instagram. It doesn’t take long to see that he’s a big fan of a brash Prada print, and many of his style stalwarts have excitedly awaited to see what outlandish style the actor would don next.
But, that changed yesterday. At the Australian premiere of Wicked, Goldblum didn’t dress in the brand that he’s been practically synonymous with over the last few years. Instead, he pulled on a khaki shirt, slightly cropped blazer and wide-leg chinos, all from Loewe. This was followed by a particularly whimsical custom look by the same label for the 'Journey Through Oz' Tour afterwards.
This might not seem like some very newsworthy news. Celebrities, even if they are loyal to one designer, will swap between brands for different occasions, as Goldblum has done previously.
But beyond dressing everyone’s favourite MIT-educated satellite engineer, Loewe has been catching the attention of many stars as of late.
Helmed by Jonathan Anderson, the Spanish fashion house has risen the ranks for its surrealist, art-influenced silhouettes, adopting a multitude of heartthrobs (Drew Starkey, Leo Woodall, Jamie Dornan) and film icons (Daniel Craig, Luca Guadagnino, Maggie Smith) into its orbit. The brand’s roster of show attendees/campaign stars is the perfect balance of cool and kooky, which pretty much sums up Jeff Goldblum, and makes it a prime contender for his wardrobe.
Could this mark the start of a new sartorial era? Maybe his off-duty outfits will consist more of uber high-waisted trousers than abstract Cuban shirts, and while the latter will be missed, I’m excited to see what’s to come. Who knows, maybe come January there’ll be a catwalk appearance, too.
