Jane Fonda just proved that age is nothing but a number, as the 82-year-old stole the spotlight at the 2020 Oscars courtesy of a show-stopping gown and all-new grey pixie cut.

The Hollywood muse stepped out to present the award for Best Picture but viewers could barely divert their attention away from her headline-worthy look.

The actress’ hairstylist, Jack Martin, revealed on Instagram that bidding farewell to her famed blonde locks took over seven hours to complete.

“I had the honour and the pleasure to transform the legendary actress Jane Fonda hair especially for the 2020 Oscars," Martin wrote on Instagram. "Spending seven hours with this amazing Hollywood star and witnessing her energy, beauty, strength and femininity was so inspiring.”

Unsurprisingly, Twitter users flocked to Twitter to praise Fonda for embracing her grey hair.

“How is it possible that Jane Fonda looks even better with grey hair?!” one wrote. “She looks so great!”

Another added: “One of my favourite ladies, Jane Fonda, has embraced her SILVER and I love it!” one wrote.

“Yassssssss you all better stand for Jane Fonda!” a third tweeted. “Wow, look at the short hair and hair colour. She looks stunning and I’m so happy she has embraced her grey hair.”

If that wasn’t enough to see her name begin to trend on Twitter, Fonda also led the way for sustainable dressing this awards season.

For the Los Angeles bash, she recycled a sheer Elie Saab gown which she first donned at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival.

Further pushing the eco-fashion message, the actress graced the stage with that now-famous coat slung over her shoulder - the last piece of clothing she has ever vowed to purchase.

“You see this coat? I needed something red and I went out and found this coat on sale. This is the last article of clothing that I will ever buy," Fonda declared last year.
