Even the upper crust of British society needs to take a break from social media sometimes.

James Middleton, brother to Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, has announced his return to Instagram after a brief, 'unintentional' hiatus from the photo-sharing platform. Middleton last left us with a selfie of him and his wife, financial analyst Alizée Thevenet, on their wedding day in mid-September.

Yesterday—nearly two months since he last posted—he shared a new selfie, this time accompanied by one of his black spaniels.

'And we're back 🎉 🐾,' he captioned the photo. 'I've been so immersed in embracing & enjoying the first few months of being with my new wife ❤️ I've realised I have unintentionally taken a social detox… which I suppose is no bad thing… 🤔 BUT we are back - hope you don't mind 🐾.'

Middleton also encouraged his 230,000 followers to consider taking a break from social media themselves. 'I highly recommend taking a social media detox from time to time,' he added. 'In fact I believe the saying is disconnect to reconnect. Over the last few months many of you have reached out…and thank you for checking up on me it means a lot 🙏😊.'

Middleton married Thevenet in an intimate ceremony in southeastern France. Prince William, Duchess Kate, and their children—Prince George, 8, Princess Charlotte, 6, and Prince Louis, 3—all traveled to France to attend the ceremony, a royal insider confirmed.

Other guests included Kate and the groom's parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, and their sister, Pippa Middleton, as well as Pippa's husband, James Matthews, and their two children, Arthur and Grace Matthews.
