James Corden has addressed the possible return of the ever-popular British comedy Gavin and Stacey.

Corden, who co-wrote and starred in the hit sitcom alongside Ruth Jones, will be returning to the UK after eight years in the US hosting The Late Late Show with James Corden, the final episode of which aired last night (April 27).

While discussing the big move and his career with The Sun, Corden also revealed that he met up with Jones over Christmas to discuss Gavin and Stacey's future.

"In truth, Ruth and I met up at Christmas. And I know it will be a disappointment, but we didn't talk about it in life-growing forms," he said. "It is whether we decide to get into a room together and honestly I could not tell you what the chances are of that. We both have to be ready and right."

Fans have been eager for a fourth series of Gavin and Stacey ever since the show's Christmas special back in 2019, which left things on a killer cliffhanger with Jones' Nessa proposing to Corden's Smithy.

Jones also spoke about the show's future last year, though she unfortunately admitted there are no plans for a fourth season and that she likes where things were left off in the special.

"We've got nothing in the diary to get writing, but I think we will definitely write something together again, because I think that it would be a shame not to," she shared.

"Obviously with him coming back to the UK then we've got more chance of getting together. There are no plans to write more Gavin & Stacey... I like the idea of leaving it where we left it, if I'm honest."
