Jameela Jamil denies being best friends with Meghan Markle
In today's random royal news, actress and body positivity powerhouse Jameela Jamil has spoken out to shut down a rather odd story floating about that she and Meghan Markle are best friends.
The star of The Good Place (which we're still not over the ending of, by the way) spotted a headline claiming that not only is she the closest of chums with the Duchess of Sussex, but that she's even been quarantined with her and Prince Harry over in California. As we said – random!
It sounds as though the story possibly came about after Jameela and her musician partner, James Blake, took a trip to Santa Barbara (where Meghan and Harry have recently moved, after deciding LA wasn't really their bag).
Tweeting a screenshot of a newspaper headline reading 'Meghan Markle's new best friend? Luvvie Jameela Jamil 'quarantines' with Harry and Meghan', Jameela very much wanted to clear up any confusion, writing, "LOL. Went to a hotel in [Santa Barbara] for a romantic getaway with my boyfriend... and have seen 8 days of articles with increasingly ridiculous stories, none of which are consistent, none of which make sense... (all to now create the lie that she controls me and coordinates my every move.)"

She added a subsequent tweet explaining that although she has met The Duchess once, that she wasn't best pleased with the false story – which it appears has since been taken down from The Express's website. "I’ve met this woman once. Ever. #BestFriends These articles are a strategy to now blame her for MY every word and move. And to attempt to discredit my calling them out as if it isn’t a *FACT* that they bully and harass her for clicks, to feed Britain’s already sturdy xenophobia."
We're pretty gutted that this turned out to only be a rumour, as tbh we'd love nothing more than a podcast (or night out) with Meghan and Jameela – they seem to both have a lot in common, including their passion for equality and women's rights.
Whilst it may not be with Jameela in tow, it is likely that we'll be hearing more from Meghan in the future though, as her and husband Harry have recently signed a rather hefty deal with Netflix to create documentaries together.
