ITV's highly anticipated new drama Joan, starring Game of Thrones' Sophie Turner, is scheduled to hit our screens from next week (Sunday 29 September), and now a first preview clip from the show has been released.
"Inside Bernard Jones’ jewellery shop, where Joan works, her attention is drawn to the open safe, its contents glittering with the sparkle of diamonds. The temptation becomes impossible to ignore…" reads the synopsis of the clip from ITV.
Watch below:
In the scene, we see Joan unfold a sheet of paper from a safe to reveal a selection of diamonds. She then lifts one to her mouth and swallows it, before doing the same with the remaining jewels.
The series is based on the real life story of jewel thief Joan Harrington, also known as The Godmother in the criminal underworld of 1980s London. In marketing so far, Sophie's character has been billed as "Mother, Lover, Liar, Thief" and the trailers show the star in a number of different looks - presumably disguises - including various wigs.
The trailer (at the top of this article) also reveals a tender relationship with her daughter, a potential love interest, plenty of sparkling jewels and lots of drama.
The series will be in six parts and air on ITV1, becoming available to watch on ITVX after the first episode has aired.
JOAN launches on ITV1 and ITVX on Sunday 29 September at 9pm, with the second episode airing on Monday 30 September at 9pm.
