A new Welsh-made drama is airing on ITV1 and was entirely filmed in Wales. Out There, which stars Martin Clunes in the lead role, begins on ITV1 at 9pm on Sunday, January 19.

The story follows one farmer's battle against county drug lines. Playing a farmer confronted with dark forces creeping into his rural community, Martin will be joined by an impressive Welsh cast for the series.

Many different locations in Wales were used for filming. The farms were located in Llangattock, near Crickhowell in Bannau Brycheiniog and in Llyswen, near Brecon. For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter.

Interior scenes were shot at Dragon Studios in Cardiff. Martin spoke about filming in Wales, he said: "I really enjoyed filming in Wales. The locations were beautiful. I like being on a farm and being in the countryside. I was in my element."

Martin also spoke about county lines crime, which the drama explores when Martin's character's son gets caught up in the messy and dangerous world of dealing drugs, and explained why the drama was set and filmed in Wales. He said: "Marc Evans, the director, had this thought that where it is in Wales is kind of borderland, and so much of it is about boundaries, and borders, and encroachment, and threat, and it is all sort of tied in together. But county lines is very much a nationwide problem. The way we are telling it, those issues come up."

Carly-Sophia who plays Sadie Simpson in the drama, is from Port Talbot and she spoke about what it was like to be filming in her home. She said: "It was great to see Port Talbot in a different way and to see different parts of it, and parts of my own country that I hadn’t seen, and have a new relationship with the place I grew up in.

"The house which Sadie and Rhys live in is very close to where I grew up, literally round the corner from my old school. The chip shop in the chip shop scene is the one I used to go to on my lunch break from school. The pub we filmed in was where I had my prom. You have memories in all these places. It was a really special experience."
