ITV This Morning viewers fume over show segment featuring Coronation Street star
ITV This Morning fans were left less than impressed with a segment featuring Nigel Havers, as they took to social media to express their frustration over what they claim is recycled content. The 72 year old actor graced our screens again on Wednesday 8 May, tipping his cowboy hat as he strolled through Nashville, Tennessee, in a segment showcasing his adventures in the city known for its legendary country music venues.
Nigel was at the helm of a two-part travel feature on the morning programme, but his jaunt to the heart of country music didn't strike the right chord with some viewers. One irate fan vented on Twitter, "Nigel Haver's USA road trip AGAIN? ! They re-run this approximately every two months or so," alongside a biting critique of the show's programming choices.
The same viewer followed up with another tweet shortly after, exclaiming, "This Nigel Havers in Nashville was first aired on 29th February and they're ALREADY repeating it." Accompanying the tweet was a screenshot from a Facebook page named Deep South USA, which had previously posted on 29 February that Nigel Havers was spotted at the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, a location featured in his travelogue. The post included several photos of Nigel exploring the distillery, reports the Mirror.
A viewer joked: "Ha ha, this segment's so old it pre-dates Beyonce's Jolene cover version," referring to the recent Beyonce rendition of Dolly Parton's classic tune. Another chimed in and echoed their sentiment by questioning, "Havers in Nashville AGAIN? ? ".
Nigel is reportedly hoping for a breath of fresh air with his new travel segment on ITV's This Morning. "This was something a little different for Nigel and he adored this trip and meeting the locals," a source confided to The Daily Mirror. In addition to reminiscing about Nashville, the insider shared: "He made no secret in saying it was his favourite place in America and cannot wait to share his experience with viewers." Any upcoming adventures hinge on the warm reception of 'Nigel in Nashville', as per the source.
Nigel has numerous TV and film appearances under his belt, making a mark in famed shows such as Downton Abbey, Benidorm and Little Britain. Soap fans will also remember him popping up sporadically on Coronation Street as character Lewis Archer between 2009 and 2019.
His acting career dates back to 1972, and he rose to fame following his performance as Lord Andrew Lindsay in 1981's Oscar-winning Chariots of Fire. More recently, he tried out jungle life as a contestant on I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! back in 2011.
