ITV Emmerdale fans praise ‘powerful’ moment as Chas Dingle reveals her mastectomy scars

Emmerdale fans were quick to praise an emotional scene which took place during Wednesday evening’s visit to the dales, as Chastity Dingle bravely plucked up the courage to view her mastectomy scars for the first time.

As regular viewers will know, earlier this year Chas was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer and opted to have both of her breasts removed in a radical mastectomy procedure to avoid succumbing to the disease like her mother Faith.

Following the successful operation, Chas had been slowly returning to normality and even felt comfortable enough to try wearing her prosthetics for a shift in the pub. However this prompted an ill-advised comment from Kerry Wyatt which remarked on their size.

Clearly unimpressed by the remark, Chas blasted her former love-rival for defining women by the size of their breasts before retreating into the back of the Woolpack to calm down. Later, when visited by her cousin Charity Dingle, Chas candidly admitted how she felt before confessing she hadn’t actually looked at her surgical scars since the procedure, as she had previously chosen to look away when the nurses had removed her dressings.

After telling Charity how she was afraid to look, Charity wasted no time in offering her support to Chas as she promised to be there while she viewed them for the first time. In one particular light-hearted moment, she even volunteered to show off her own breasts, but her cousin declined the offer as the two shared a poignant but raw moment together.

In scenes described by one fan as ‘powerful’ Chas slowly stripped off her clothes to take a look at her scars in the mirror, with Charity at her side to provide words of encouragement and support no matter what Chas was feeling.

Fans at home were loving the exchange, with many praising the way both actresses had brought to life such an emotional scene. “This is a nice Charity and Chas scene. Another example of how Charity shines away from Mack too,” wrote one fan.

A second viewer then added: “Such a lovely scene between Chas and charity tonight. Charity helping her face her operation and to love her own body.”

Before a third viewer commented: “Charity was so nice to Chas in today's #Emmerdale she has got a really nice side to her sometimes the way Chas's was done today could be really helpful for other woman in the same situation imo.”

And a fourth fan echoed: “Wow that was actually quite powerful there from Chas!! Bravo!”

Emmerdale continues Monday to Friday at 7:30pm on ITV and ITVX.
