ITV Coronation Street shock as 'body found' while Roy Cropper charged with Lauren's murder

ITV Coronation Street spoilers have hinted at a grim storyline next week as the case of missing Lauren Bolton takes a sinister turn. Recently, Roy Cropper found himself accused of the murder of missing teen Lauren despite his innocence, and things are set to worsen for him.

In forthcoming scenes, Sam Blakeman assures Nina Lucas that he will take Freddie the dog for a walk before school. As Sam sets off, unknown to him, a detective observes from a corner table and later a distraught Sam returns without Freddie, explaining he ran away. As Evelyn Plummer oversees the cafe, Nina and Toyah Battersby head out to search for Freddie.

Toyah joins the hunt for the missing Freddie and stumbles upon three detectives digging up a rose bed in the park. With Freddie seen digging in the same area, the trio suspect Lauren's body may have been buried there by Roy.

Toyah loses her cool and damages their car to scare them off. Later, Nick Tilsley is worried about her behaviour as she breaks down in tears, and soon Toyah lashes out at a distressed Sam for losing Freddie in the first place.

The police come looking for Toyah about the incident, but she remains adamant she was right to defend Roy's reputation and to stop the sleuths from desecrating such a special place. Nick is confused by her choice of words, and he soon finds her breaking down in tears once more.

It's then that Toyah tells him that at 19 years of age, she gave birth to a stillborn baby girl. She kept it a secret and she buried her baby in the exact same place in the park where the group was digging.

Toyah takes a deep breath and admits to Nick that the baby's father was her rapist Phil Simmonds, which was a controversial storyline in 2001, where teenager Toyah was attacked and raped, with her attacker initially not revealed. Corrie eventually revealed a man named Phil was behind the assault, and he was imprisoned months later, and the soap is now revisiting the storyline after more than 20 years.

What happens next remains to be seen, with the spoilers teasing trouble ahead for Toyah when the police possibly make a discovery as they dig up the park and Bobby reckons they've found a body. Meanwhile, Roy could find himself "tricked into confessing" to Lauren's murder as the Internet sleuths use Freddie as hostage and to secure his safe return, Roy must confess to Lauren's murder in a sick twist.

Nina, Asha, and Evelyn are left in utter shock as they watch a video uploaded by online detectives that's causing Roy distress. Later on, Asha tells Aadi she's had a reply from the troll responsible for the video and has planned to meet him.

She's set to face the troll in the precinct with Aadi offering to be there for her. Meanwhile, Evelyn drops by the café with "missing Freddie" posters and a birthday card for Nina.

For Nina's special day, Roy calls the café to send his birthday wishes, and Nina reassures him that Freddie is okay, while also mentioning Dee-Dee's efforts to get him out. However, when Asha gets to the precinct, Aadi is nowhere to be found as he's been caught up helping Amy, missing Asha's frantic calls.

Suddenly, TrueMan67 and Banditman make an appearance, bombarding a frightened Asha with uncomfortable questions. With Asha feeling threatened, everyone's wondering about Freddie's whereabouts.

As the week progresses, Roy shares with a prison officer that new evidence might mean his release is on the horizon. In court, Dee-Dee fights for Roy's bail, highlighting Bobby's account of seeing someone who doesn't match Roy's description leaving Lauren's flat.

Despite the witness statement, the judge denies Roy's bail application. Later on, Dee-Dee pays a visit to Roy in his cell, encouraging him not to lose hope and informing him about the police's plan for a reconstruction.

In a later scene, Roy reaches out to Carla from prison, requesting her to visit as he needs to discuss Bobby's statement with her. Has Roy figured out Bobby's lie?
