Iris Law's Hairstylist On Nailing Her Super Cool Pixie Cut With Bangs
Ever since Emma Stone rocked up the Golden Globes red carpet with a pixie cut, it's clear that this hairstyle is set to take over 2025. From choppy pixie cuts to the slightly longer 'pixie bob', if you're ready to take the plunge (or want to update an existing chop), there's something here for you.

One of the coolest interpretations of this style is the pixie cut with bangs. Fringes, in general, have long been the fashion girl's go-to style as it calls to mind the iconic looks of Brigitte Bardot, Jane Birkin and Ronnie Spector. Pair that with an audacious pixie cut and get ready to turn heads.
How to find the right pixie cut with bangs
'In my eyes, all pixie haircuts have bangs - it just depends on how short the bang is and how they are styled,' says the hairstylist and BaByliss ambassador, Syd Hayes, who's previously chopped Renée Zellweger and Iris Law’s (aka the modern day pixie cut icon) hair.
On Law's hair, Hayes says: 'I regularly cut it but we change the shape and play with the texture to create different styles - and mainly have fun!'.
Who should try the pixie cut with bangs
It might seem that this is haircut made for those with more angular bone structure, but it's really about your own personal style and how at ease you feel with an ultra-short length.
A good hairstylist will tailor the chop to enhance your features and talk you through what you love about your face, what you don't, what your fashion approach looks like and how much time you're willing to spend on your hair daily.
How to style pixie cuts with bangs
Hayes recommends drying your hair in a 'wrap' style such as BaByliss Air Power Pro.
'Dry your hair by pushing it around the shape of the head in both directions, wrapping it around the head , giving a natural bend to the ends of the hair,' says Hayes.
He adds: 'I also love texture sprays like Sam McKnight’s Cool Girl as it helps to add a matte texture and dryness to the hair. Often a good matte wax will help add some hold as well.' He's often reaches for the Hershesons Almost Everything Cream, which adds texture and hydration.
If you prefer to keep it heat-free, Grace Newton-Hedges at Hershesons salon recommends using a curling cream for curly and wavy hair to 'define the natural movement and eliminate frizz'.
For straight and fine hair, try a salt spray for texture. 'If you have a difficult fringe that has cowlick, I recommend roughly drying it with a hairdryer concentrating on pulling the cowlick down,' says Newton-Hedges.
How to maintain the pixie cut with bangs
Regular trims will help maintain the shape as the growing out period in short hair is much more obvious than in longer lengths. Hayes recommends booking in every six to eight weeks. 'I also love using a razor on short hair as it softens the ends giving the hair an irregular shape,' says Hayes.
Newton-Hedges agrees, adding: 'Even half an inch can change the whole shape of the haircut, but that is also the fun part about short hair. You're able to switch up the style of pixie often, such as leaning into a longer pixie cut, or chopping it all off into a micro pixie cut for example like Emma Watson circa 2010.'
