This Morning guest Iris Jones regrets marriage to Facebook lover, comparing it to Sixth Commandment

The 83-year-old TV guest said watching Anne Reid getting gaslit in the BBC true crime drama reminded her of her 37-year-old estranged husband.

This Morning guest Iris Jones has confessed she regrets marrying her 37-year-old Facebook lover and compared their relationship to BBC drama The Sixth Commandment.

The 83-year-old grandmother from Weston-Super-Mare found fame after she appeared on the ITV show in 2020 to discuss her romance with Mohamed Ibriham from Cairo, Egypt, but recently revealed they had separated.

Jones has now told the MailOnline: "I'm better off without him, and I wish I had listened to my family and friends but what's done is done now. I do regret meeting him and I now know that my best husband was my first husband Gwyn."

She went on: "I certainly don't feel love for him at the moment, what I do feel is stupid and I should have known better.

"I feel a bit like the woman in the second episode of that series.

"Mohamed and me is just like the younger man/older woman in that show. It brought it all back. Mohamed wasn't as clever as that bloke but he's very similar."

The Sixth Commandment stars Anne Reid and Eanna Hardwicke - as well as Timothy Spall - in the sinister true story of killer Ben Field who took advantage of elderly teacher Peter Farquhar and his friend Ann Moore-Martin, persuading them to write him into their wills while simultaneously poisoning them with drugged cups of tea and gaslighting them when they voiced any suspicion.

Jones said she "threw out" Ibriham and she did not know where he had gone after he left their marital home, taking all his belongings.

She admitted she had been "infatuated" by his good looks.

She added: "We used to have a great sex life but then it dwindled to nothing because I was always so tired from looking after him. I would do all his cooking, cleaning and tidying."

Jones and Ibriham met on Facebook in 2019 and sparked concern amongst her family when they declared they were in love, despite a 46 year age gap.

Jones appeared on This Morning in January 2020 and told hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield their love was “real and true” and he had agreed to sign a legal document to prove he did not want to lay claim to her money.

She then became a global internet sensation when she went into graphic detail about her sex life live on air.

Jones first got chatting to Ibriham last summer on a Facebook group exploring atheism.

After declaring their love for one another she flew to Cairo in November to meet him in person.

They married in November 2020, a year after meeting for the first time and Ibriham moved to live with Jones in Weston-Super-Mare after being granted a three-year-visa in 2021.
