I think it's safe to say that I didn't expect to write this news story today, but here we are. Fashion month is officially underway, meaning we're in for a few weeks of eye-catching celebrity style, and Kylie Jenner is already making headlines with her wardrobe choices. This morning, the Kardashian stepped out at Paris Fashion Week wearing a dress with a massive lion head hanging off the front. Yep, it's pretty hard to miss. And, before I go any further, she points out that the head is actually totally fake, created with manmade materials.
The look in question is a Schiaparelli design, with Kylie wearing the look to the designer's haute couture spring/summer 2023 show. The strapless black midi dress is fitted to the body and totally bare save for a huge faux lion head affixed to the front. At first, we had to do a double-take, with the intricate detailing making us question if it was real or not.
Kylie shared her latest look on Instagram with the caption, "BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. thank you @danielroseberry and @schiaparelli for such a special morning. wow i loved wearing this faux art creation constructed by hand using manmade materials. beautiful beautiful 🦁🦁🏻".
Fans have mixed reactions to the dress, taking to the comments section to share their thoughts. Some think that the piece is a homage to the fact that Kylie is a famous Leo, and defended the look:
Big Leo Energyyyyy
It’s not a real lion! Why are ppl so sensitive 😂
While others think that, although the animal is fake, it still doesn't sit right:
This is wrong on so many levels 😮
Seriously ?! What’s wrong with you guys? That’s is going to far in my opinion. 😒
What in the Lion king is going on 😳
Animals aren‘t fashion
Here's the lion dress on the runway (worn by Irina Shayk), alongside a second design featuring a snow leopard:
What do you think, is Kylie's dress harmless?
