Inside Taylor Swift and Prince William's 11-year-long friendship as he attends Eras Tour
Taylor Swift had Royal fans in a frenzy when she shared a snap with Prince William and his children at her Wembley Arena concert in London on Friday night.
The star-studded evening saw the likes of Travis Kelce and Cara Delevingne among the audience, but it was the presence of Prince William with his children, George and Charlotte, that made headlines. The Love Story songstress, 34, took to Instagram to share a birthday tribute to the Prince, posting a selfie with him, his kids, and Travis, captioned: "Happy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start," complete with both American and British flag emojis.
Footage of the Prince grooving to Shake It Off surfaced online, proving that even royalty can't resist a Taylor Swift bop. This isn't the first time Prince William and Taylor have crossed paths; they famously rocked out with Jon Bon Jovi on stage during a charity event in November 2013, belting out Livin' On A Prayer as William playfully strummed the air guitar and dished out high-fives.
The memorable jam session took place at the Winter Whites Gala at Kensington Palace, where their spontaneous performance became an instant hit with the crowd. During her speech, Taylor charmingly introduced herself saying: "I'm Taylor, it is very nice to meet you, especially under these circumstances.
"It is my first time playing at Kensington Palace - or any other palace for that matter. I have to thank you, Prince William, for having me. It's amazing. To call attention to this age group especially, teens and young adults," reports the Mirror.
She later added with a chuckle about her Royal encounter: "He was very funny. I was really happy he was funny."
During the event, Taylor and Prince William were seen sharing a laugh as they sat together, clearly enjoying each other's company. Recalling the event in 2021, Prince William shared how he was completely taken aback by the presence of Taylor Swift and Jon Bon Jovi, saying it 'nearly knocked him off his feet'.
Reflecting on the moment after greeting everyone, he recounted: "I'm sat next to Taylor Swift. She's on my left and after Jon does his first song, there's a pause and she turns to me."
The Prince then mimicked Taylor's persuasive charm: "She puts her hand on my arm, looks me in the eye and says, 'Come on, William. Let's go and sing.' To this day, I still do not know what came over me. Honestly, even now I'm cringing at what happened next, and I don't understand why I gave in. But, frankly, if Taylor Swift looks you in the eye, touches your arm and says, 'Come with me...' I got up like a puppy and went, 'Yeah, OK, that seems like a great idea. I'll follow you'."
