It's been 10 years since the most relaxed royal couple walked down the aisle and became husband and wife.

Zara and Mike Tindall married on 30 July 2011, in Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh, with a reception at the Palace of Holyroodhouse - the Queen's official home in Scotland.

Florist Paul Thomas was the man entrusted with making the church and the Palace a floral paradise, fit for the Queen's granddaughter.

But he told Yahoo UK it was actually a certain member of the public who has become the most significant memory of the day for him.

He said: "The morning we were working on the entrance of the chapel there were fans, crowds of people arriving, we were there about 6am. There was a woman in a wheelchair, she'd been at every royal wedding I think since the Queen, it was so amazing.

"My partner went over and gave her a rose.

"That was the lasting memory of the day for me."

Thomas has become a firm family favourite for Princess Anne and her children, and was pleased to get the call booking him and his team for Zara's big day.

He said: "I was absolutely thrilled. It was lovely, I had done Zara's 21st birthday at Windsor a few years before so it was lovely to keep that connection.

"I'd also done Peter Phillips's wedding reception."

He said he first worked with them for Peter's 21st birthday.

Of Zara's brief he said: "She wanted it to be quite relaxed, very lovely, very white. She was pretty laid back over it. We gave her lots of ideas and options.

"That reflected her, she is very easy going. I remember Mike Tindall being there, and I had to bring my dog, and my dog jumped up and sat on his lap. It was such a relaxed meeting. I'll never forget that."

Despite the pressure of a royal wedding, Thomas said the day ran "like clockwork".

He said: "[There were] No hiccups on the day, it went like clockwork. It was a beautiful day, it was up in Edinburgh, it was lovely to be up there.

"I remember we had to do a lot of the work on the previous days, we could not leave it all to the last minute, but it was incredibly warm.

"The reception was in the quadrant of Holyroodhouse in a marquee but with a clear roof. It was like a green house. We had to get everything ready, and keep it in a wine cellar.

"As the sun moved around we could get flowers out.

"We had to work with it. In the end it just looked beautiful, the way the sun moved, it just finished as the reception started."

The Tindalls have become a popular family, welcoming three children, Mia, Lena and Lucas, and their lack of royal titles makes them more relatable.

Reflecting on his time with the couple, Thomas said: "I did not meet with Mike much, I met with Zara and Mike the first time, but I did not work with him much after that.

"Zara I have met on a few occasions.

"You are very aware at first that they are royal but they do not come over like you think they would. 'Normal' isn't the right word, but easy going, and a pleasure to deal with."

Thomas and his team still work with the Tindalls, and have also worked on Princess Eugenie's wedding and the wedding of Lady Gabriella Windsor.

The Tindalls live in Gloucestershire on the Gatcombe Park estate, which was given to Princess Anne when she got married, but don't carry out royal duties.
