Inside King Charles and Queen Camilla's Secret Vacation at an Indian Wellness Resort

After wrapping up their 10-day tour of Australia and Samoa, King Charles and Queen Camilla stopped in Bangalore, India to spend time at Soukya, a holistic health and wellness center.

"Their Majesties had a short private stopover in India to help break the long journey back from Samoa. They return to the UK this morning," a Buckingham Palace spokesperson confirmed today.

Both Charles and Camilla have visited Soukya before, which describes itself as a "first-of-its-kind healing sanctuary" that "practises a treatment approach that integrates different traditional, time-tested and natural systems of medicine like Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Yoga & Naturopathy and other complementary therapies." In fact, en route to Australia, Camilla also stayed at the resort, and back in 2019, Charles celebrated his birthday there.

"The couple who have stayed in the medical facility on a couple of occasions in the past took various wellness treatments, including Ayurveda and Naturopathy. Their morning routine included yoga sessions," an official told the Hindu paper. "They were on a special diet as part of the various wellness treatment they underwent here. They underwent rejuvenative treatment, which also included meditation and therapies."

The anonymous official added, "They also enjoyed long walks around the 30-acre campus and going to organic farm," clarifying they stayed at Soukya for three days.

The center was founded by Dr. Issac Mathai, who also works as King Charles's holistic physician. Dr. Mathai was even invited to attend the coronation, and posted on Instagram, "A remarkable honour to be part of such a historical event and grateful for the support of King Charles III and Queen Camilla, who have long been believers in SOUKYA's Integrative Holistic Approach to health."

The King has long promoted alternative medicine, but it is understood that the visit to Soukya is unrelated to Charles's ongoing cancer treatment, which he paused to undertake the royal visit of Australia and Samoa, and will resume upon his return to the UK.
