We're always on the lookout for fun new crochet stitches to learn – and block stitch is a brilliant one to add to your repertoire!
Crafters across the world have been taking to social media to show off their block stitch crochet projects – and we're seriously inspired to get stitching ourselves.
Block stitch is a similar crochet technique to granny striping, but with a extra row of stitches added between each stripe. This closes the gap between the granny square clusters, creating a more dense stitch.
It's a great way to work more colour into your projects, by injecting a pop of colour into each of the rows between the granny stripes.

We love a granny square crochet project – there are so many brilliant ideas to create beautiful pieces for your home and wardrobe.
Why not use block stitch in your granny squares and create a denser and more colourful creation, as demonstrated by @yarnspirations on Instagram. We love the tonal colours of yarns used, too. This could be worked into a fabulous granny square cushion or blanket.
Create a cosy blanket
