The Independent Spirit Awards 2024: The 10 best dressed
The 2023 awards season is in its final stretch, with the Golden Globes, the SAG Awards and the BAFTAs behind us, and the Academy Awards set for next week. And, last night, we saw the Independent Spirit Awards take place, a slightly less formal event on the calendar, but one which has certainly amped up excitement for the fashion we might see on Oscars' night.
The Independent Spirit Awards is, as the name suggests, dedicated to independent films and filmmakers, and – with a more relaxed dress code than many of these big Hollywood award shows – always provides us with some of the most inventive red-carpet fashion. This was certainly the case for 2023 with fun jumpsuits, two-pieces and even some red-carpet socks.

Never failing to make a best dressed list, Greta Lee continued her very stylish weekend in a sculptural white dress by Lii for the Independent Spirit Awards, which she teamed with pointy patent black pumps.
Anne Hathaway in Valentino
Anne Hathaway added some sparkle to the red carpet in a silver sequinned jumpsuit by Valentino.
Natalie Portman in Balmain
Natalie Portman wore a bright red two-piece with 3D floral detail by Balmain for the event, which she wore with matching strappy sandals and a ponytail.
Emma Corrin in Miu Miu
Emma Corrin wore a black satin top and skirt from Miu Miu with bright green socks and black heels.
Belle Powley in Marni
Belle Powley also embraced the red-carpet sock. The actress styled a checked oversized blazer by Marni with purple heels, white socks and statement sunglasses.
