2024 was quite a year for some of our favorite celebrity cooks. Stanly Tucci—actor turned Italian-inspired home kitchen chef extraordinaire—released the book "What I Ate in One Year (and Related Thoughts)." Jennifer Garner’s “Pretend Cooking Show” turned into appointment streaming. Country Queen Dolly Parton and her sister Rachel Parton George released a cookbook.

But, perhaps, no one had a bigger year than Ina Garten. We know we can’t get enough of her cooking advice around here. The host of the former "Barefoot Contessa" cooking show and author of several cookbooks released her first memoir this year, delighted us on “Be My Guest” where she invited friends into her home to cook, shared what she ate in Paris during the Olympics, and reminded us over and over that, sometimes, store-bought is okay. (No wonder we love her!)

At the end of the year, Ina invited her Instagram followers to ask her anything. There were several questions about when her next cookbook is coming out (she said she is writing one now) and where she gets her scarves, plus tons of general comments about how amazing she is.

But one person asked her the question we all want to know the answer to.

Ina Garten's Favorite Olive Oil

If you pay attention when Ina cooks, you’ll frequently hear her recommend using the “best quality” or “good” ingredients, particularly when it comes to things like butter, mayo, vanilla, and olive oil.

“I’m curious when you say to use good olive oil in some of your recipes; what exactly do you mean?” asked one of Ina’s fans. She responded with, “I use Olio Santo olive oil from California."

Olio Santo is a product of Stone House Olive Oil. The brand is so proud that Ina uses it (as they should be) that it says so right on the website, mentioning the “super user-friendly EVOO” has been her choice for over 25 years.

A 16.9-ounce (500ml) bottle of Olio Santo runs $22, and if you order larger quantities the price per ounce comes down a bit. We’re perfectly willing to believe Ina when she says this is quality-tasting stuff, and it’s grown free of herbicides and pesticides, which is a bonus. So if you have the money and want to use Ina’s favorite olive oil, we say go for it.

But if $22 a bottle isn’t in your budget, there are other quality brands out there. To help you know how to choose one, check out our "What to Look for When Choosing Olive Oil" guide. Remember, Ina may use Olio Santo, but she never says you have to use that brand. She simply says, “Use good olive oil,” and there are plenty of options to choose from.
