'I'm a rare coin collector – here's what London 2012 Olympics 50ps are worth'

The Olympics took place in London back in 2012.

And at the time, plenty of merchandise was launched in celebration of the Games. Collectors were quick to snap these up – and coins have proven to be particularly popular.

There were 29 coins released to celebrate the sporting event. And if you have any of the pieces in your possession, you could make a pretty penny.

Explaining more on TikTok, collector @CoinCollectingWizard asked: "Have you ever wondered what your Olympic 50p is worth?" He then went on to provide a rundown of the value of each item – and you can check it out below.

The TikTok user, who boasts 149,000 followers, garnered hundreds of likes on his informational video. It also prompted commenters to ask more questions about coin collecting.

One fan asked: "I have so many £2 and 50p coins, how do I value it?" Meanwhile a second added: "How much is my fake £2 with rotation?"

While some of the coins aren't worth much, owning the entire collection could still set you back £86, according to the TikTok video. Be right back, we'll be checking down the back of our sofa to see if we have any!
