I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! bosses reportedly gave Coleen Rooney the secret codename "Marple" to keep her signing for the show under wraps. The moniker, inspired by Agatha Christie's detective Miss Marple, was part of a covert operation to prevent any leaks about her participation, reports The Sun.

Coleen, 38, wife of football legend Wayne Rooney, earned the nickname Wagatha Christie in 2019 after she set up fake stories on her private Instagram to catch someone leaking information about her. This led to her accusing former WAG friend Rebekah Vardy, which resulted in a £1.8million High Court libel battle that Coleen won.

A source told The Sun: "ITV bosses were desperate to keep Coleen’s signing a secret for as long as they possibly could. She’s the biggest and best for years and they broke the bank to get her, so they wanted to keep quiet about it until the last minute. They come up with a codename for all the contestants, and sometimes it’s something to do with that particular person. The choice for Coleen was apt and it would take someone with her detective skills to work it out."

Meanwhile, Coleen’s jungle campmate Jane Moore, 62, was given the codename "Moon," and former boxing world featherweight champion Barry McGuigan, 63, was "Cyclones", a nod to his fight career nickname The Clones Cyclone, named after the town in Ireland where he was born.

McFly star Danny Jones, 38, was given the nickname "Rocket". Before venturing into the I'm A Celebrity camp, Coleen opened up in an interview about her readiness to leave the Wagatha controversy in the past. She said: "That’s a place that I’ve been, I’ve dealt with it. In my life now, I’m just moving forward and not looking back."

She added: "That’s something I’ve done my whole life, dealt with things, moved forward at the time and got on." Coleen emphasised her focus on family, stating, "There are more important things to think about with the family and kids."

Shedding light on her participation in I’m A Celeb, she mentioned she's joining "for me" and "not for anyone else"—highlighting her desire to step out of the Wagatha Christie shadow. She insisted, "I think I’d rather just be known as Coleen from Liverpool. Not from any other type of place."

Coleen concluded by saying, "It’s just me, as I always have been. So hopefully people just think she’s that Scouser that she’s always been."
