Ikea launches ultimate space-saving Christmas tree for £13
Ikea has launched an alternative Christmas tree with small spaces in mind.
As part of the Swedish retailer's Christmas collection, the hanging Vinterfint wall decoration (£13) is made from pine and can be pulled horizontally to the width and shape that suits your wall space.
Inspired by knob coat racks, it features 37 hooks for you to decorate with baubles, lights and sprigs of greenery. Christmas trees generally take up a lot of floor space, but this wooden Christmas tree is a great option as it can be fixed directly onto the wall.
'It can be tricky to fit a traditional Christmas tree, especially if you live in a small space. That's why I decided to create an alternative,' says Mikael Axelsson, designer at Ikea.
'Inspired by a common knob rack, I designed the Vinterfint wall decoration in pine. The flexible construction looks like an accordion that you can pull out to the desired width and fill with Christmas tree ornaments. When Christmas is over, it's easy to fold together and store – or use for jewellery and other accessories.'
The space-saving tree is a limited edition, so you'll have to be quick if you want to get it for Christmas.
Elsewhere in Ikea's festive range you'll find wall-hanging reusable advent calendars (£4), pretty patterned stockings (£9), woodland-inspired tree decorations (£7), and baubles inspired by Swedish winter landscapes and flowers.
Designer Cecilia Pettersson adds: 'With my designs for the Vinterfint collection, I wanted to capture everything that goes hand in hand with Christmas.
'The patterns I created reflect animals in our Swedish winter landscape and flowers often found in our homes. The designs are influenced by folk art, and I hope they evoke anticipation for the celebrations and a desire to wrap gifts, decorate and set tables with extra festive touches.'
