From Good Housekeeping

He’s known for playing a detective in grisly crime thriller Luther, but Idris Elba’s next role is worlds away from serial killers and forensic scientists.

The actor plays the leading part in new Netflix comedy Turn Up Charlie, which will be available to stream from 15 March.

In the series, Elba stars as Charlie, a “struggling DJ and eternal bachelor” who takes on the role of being a nanny for his famous best friend’s wild child daughter Gabby (Frankie Hervey).

While we’re more likely to see his clothes blood-stained in Luther, publicity shots for Turn up Charlie show a significantly more cheerful Elba working as a DJ with red wine stains on his shirt.

We’re excited to see his fun side back on our screens.

Also starring in the comedy series are Piper Perabo and JJ Field, with Angela Griffin, Guz Khan, Jocelyn Jee Esein, Jade Anouka, Cameron King and Dustin Demri-Burns rounding out the cast as recurring guest stars.

Turn Up Charlie will be available to stream on Netflix from 15 March.
