Ice Spice and Tyla got the belly button cut-outs memo at the BET awards

In the life of an A-list celeb, it's another day, another awards 'do in Hollywood. Following on from the Oscars, Golden Globes and Brits that have already taken place this year, last night [Sunday 30 June] it was the turn of the BET Awards. The annual awards ceremony celebrates black entertainers and other minorities in music, film, sports and philanthropy since it was established by the Black Entertainment Television network in 2001.

While huge congrats of course go to all the nominees and the winners, here on the Cosmo fashion desk we're always more focused on what comes *before* the awards stand getting handed out. Namely, the red carpet. A literal fashion show of all our fave celebs wearing jaw-dropping ball gowns, daringly risqué designs, stunning trend-led creations, or a combination of all three.

For Ice Spice and Tyla, they coordinated looks in what we're interpreting as the latest red carpet take on naked dressing: belly button-framing cut-outs.

Ice was hard to miss her in her tangerine gown with trailing ruffled asymmetric hem. The vintage dress was from the Versace archives, specifically the fashion house's spring summer 2004 collection. As well as ruching across the hips and a twisted neckline, the dress featured an XL cut-out at the bust that finished directly below the artist's belly button.

Ice accessorised her look with orange strappy heeled sandals and an oversized diamond-embellished chunky chain necklace with a giant bejewelled butterfly pendant.

Tyla, too, got the memo stepping out on the blue carpet in a black slinky satin dress that also featured an XL tordo cut-out, again finishing just beneath the singer's belly button. Sharing the same striking design detail, it's hardly surprising that Tyla's dress is also a vintage Versace creation, albeit from the autumn winter 2004 collection.

Featuring a halter neck silhouette and studded embellishment adorning the neckline and underbust band, the dress also had a thigh-high leg slit that gave a glimpse at the neon yellow tiger print lining of the gown. Tyla also accessorised with strappy sandals and plenty of bling.

We wonder if their stylists compared notes...
