Hung Vanngo is here to reignite your love for make-up
Hung Vanngo’s Instagram account may be the starriest one on the entire platform: a quick scroll takes you from Selena Gomez in sepia-toned shimmer through to Rosie Huntington-Whiteley pre-Oscars in a pillarbox lip, and Joan Smalls in a smouldering vampish purple eye.
Now, Vanngo has collaborated with Christian Louboutin Beauty to inspire our own post-lockdown makeovers, creating a series of six striking images, each one inspired by a specific pair of those iconic red-lacquered shoes. The artist is the second to take part in the brand’s Loubilooks series, following last year’s offering by Isamaya Ffrench.
‘Red Night’ is your spring-ready take on seductive smoke, with a shimmering smoky eye paired with a vinyl-lacquered red lip. For something sportier, consider the ‘Graphic Matte’ look, inspired by the Loubishark low-tops. Perhaps the ultimate daytime look, Bold Nude is a soft, neutral ode to the irreplaceable stiletto heel: glamorous, timeless, and works with everything.
“The Loubilooks are all about two things: iconic Louboutin shoes and COLOUR,” says Vanngo. “Everything started with the stunning Louboutin shoes, and each pair inspired a beauty idea. Then, we brought the idea to life using the Louboutin colour spectrum – bold and seductive reds, big pops of vibrant colour, rich nudes.”
Each look is based around a perfect lip, which may sound worrying in the age of mask-wearing, but soon makes sense once you’ve experienced the staying power of the Matte Fluid Lip Colour. “Once they set, they do not come off,” says Vanngo, and he’s absolutely right.
