Canadian rapper Drake’s home was at the heart of a shooting disturbance on Tuesday morning (May 7) when his multi-million pound mansion was reportedly ‘swarmed by cops’ after a man was shot during a ‘drive by shooting.’ A large police presence was spotted near the rapper’s home in the upscale Bridle Path neighbourhood of Toronto, following reports of a shooting in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The incident took place at around 2am local time (7am in BST), with officers heading to the scene shortly afterwards, where they remained visible outside the residence of rap artist. According to reports, the man was injured during the shooting and while his injuries are serious they are not thought to be life threatening.

According to witnesses, the victim was shot ‘multiple times’ in a ‘drive-by shooting’ reports the Toronto Sun. However the Toronto PD have yet to confirm this. Following the shooting, the victim, who is believed to be a 48 year old man, was transported to Sunnybrook Hospital for emergency surgery. The police have also stated that the suspect had fled the scene in a vehicle.

Following the incident, police have yet to release any further details regarding a potential suspect or provided any vehicle description to the public. A police presence remains in the area and a section of the street has been cordoned off, including an area around Drake’s lavish mansion, which was built in 2015.

The shooting itself is believed to have taken place a few streets North of the mansion at the junction near Post Road and Park Lane Circle. Sources told CP24 that Drake has offered to cooperate with investigators as they continue to investigate the shooting.

Around an hour before the shooting took place, a man was fatally shot and a woman injured in another shooting just nine miles away in nearby Oakwood village. It is currently unclear if the two shootings are related.

The location of the shooting at Drake’s Toronto home comes amid his ongoing feud with rival rapper Kendrick Lamar, with the pair continuing to taunt each other in recent weeks, by releasing ‘diss tracks’ against each other. In Kendrick’s latest public diss at Drake, the star shared the cover for his track 'Not Like Us', featuring Drake's mansion covered in map markers commonly used on an app to identify sex offenders.

At this time there is currently no evidence connecting the shooting to the pair’s ongoing feud.
