House of the Dragon fans are hooked on Season Two, with Episode Four having packed plenty of drama.

The latest instalment of HBO’s Game of Thrones prequel saw the war between the two houses grow even more fierce. However, fans were distracted by a familiar face.

James Dreyfus, who played Gormon Massey – one of Rhaenyra Targaryen’s (Emma D’Arcy) Council – has also starred in one of the BBC’s most iconic and beloved shows, Gimme Gimme Gimme, as well as Absolutely Fabulous. He even featured in the hit 1999 romcom Notting Hill as Martin, alongside Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts.

Other fans might recognise Dreyfus, 55, from his role Constable Kevin Goody in Ben Elton's sitcom The Thin Blue Line. Taking to X, formerly Twitter, to share their surprise, one viewer wrote: “I’m so made up to see @DreyfusJames on one of my favourite programmes House of Dragons. Quite impressed that my 25 year old son said ‘Is that James Dreyfus from Gimme Gimme Gimme? He’s hilarious!”

Another user questioned: “Was that James Dreyfus I saw in House of the dragon? While a third penned: “OMG! Is that the guy from Gimme Gimme Gimme in HotD? What's his name? James Dreyfus? He looks SO different?”

Based on George RR Martin’s, Fire & Blood, the Game of Thrones spin-off’s source material, House of the Dragon has captivated viewers. Its stellar cast includes Doctor Who star Matt Smith, and Golden Globe Award nominee Emma D’Arcy.

The series continues on HBO in the US on Sundays and on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK on Mondays.
