Cadillac announces the 'Cadillac of Reservations' with COQODAQ

Drive-up dining just got a serious upgrade.

Cadillac is teaming up with Korean-American restaurant COQODAQ, one of New York City’s buzziest eateries, for an unexpected collaboration that combines the three C’s: cars, chicken and caviar.

Up to 10 diners a night can enjoy a dinner curated by the Manhattan hot spot — which has served celebrities like Nas, David Beckham and more — from the backseat of the brand-new Cadillac Escalade IQ.

"The best seat in the house takes on a new meaning with the available Executive Second Row Seating in the Escalade IQ. Whether you're out on a drive or dining at the most sought-after restaurants, we wanted to reinvent the possibilities of where a Cadillac can take you,” says Craig Sass, Cadillac's interior design manager.

I had the opportunity to partake in the hour-long experience ahead of reservations opening, and it was a marvel at every turn. Upon arrival, patrons are led to an Escalade IQ parked on the curb in front of the restaurant.

As I settled into the deceptively spacious car, Simon Kim — COQODAQ’s owner and one of the servers for the night — highlighted the vehicle’s amenities: heated seating with massage options, rear seat entertainment, headrest speakers and the experience’s most essential feature, a stowaway tray table under the armrest.

A mocktail take of the restaurant's popular drink “The Egg” kicked off the menu. The non-alcoholic version is soda-like, with notes of lychee from the oval-shaped ice cube that gives the beverage its name. In contrast, the following shot of consommé, or clear broth, was exactly what I needed on a chilly winter evening.

The star of the menu was the combination of COQODAQ’s spin on a Caesar salad and their viral “Golden Nugget.” Instead of croutons, the salad comes with fried crown daisies that add a unique texture. It paired perfectly with the melt-in-your-mouth battered-fried chicken topped with a generous amount of caviar or truffle.

Next came the meal’s centerpiece, the restaurant’s signature Better Fried Chicken presented in a fancy bucket. The chicken bucket came with pickled sides and four original sauces: an airy cilantro mayo, a heavy-hitting honey mustard, a savory peppercorn parm and, my personal favorite, a gochujang BBQ.

And if that isn’t enough, another round brings out more fried chicken, tossed in either soy garlic or gochujang glaze.

Of course, it’s not a full meal without dessert. This meal's final course came with frozen yogurt topped with tart berry sauce and was the perfect light sweet treat. Plus, it was paired with a song from Frozen, just like every other round of the meal was matched with its own corresponding song.

To get a taste of the unique experience, inquiring fans will have to move quickly. “Cadillac of Reservations” will last for only two days, Friday, Jan. 31, and Saturday, Feb. 1, with five slots per night for parties of two. Spots will open via Resy.com on Jan. 27 for night one and Jan. 28 for night two at 10 a.m. ET.
