Homes Under The Hammer expert speechless as house goes under 'unrecognisable' renovation
A Homes Under The Hammer expert was left speechless after one home underwent an unrecognisable renovation.
Presenter Tommy Walsh headed to Buckinghamshire and a tiny hamlet called Verney Junction, which was surrounded by countryside. The three-bedroom mid-terrace cottage had a guide price of £160,000.
Heading inside, Tommy was hopeful that the inside was better than the outside, which looked quite run down. Pointing out a quick problem, he noticed some mould in the corner of the room.
Things didn't get much better as he travelled around the house. "This is a nice size room," he remarked, "But it needs completely gutting. The whole ground floor. And then someone's made this outside space into an inside space and put a plastic roof on it. If you want to keep the configuration then that needs to be addressed and done properly."

Tommy then headed upstairs to look at the property's offerings, where he noted the bedroom was nice but said the colour wasn't to his taste. However, the toilet was missing from the upstairs bathroom, before Tommy later found it at the back of the house.
"It's not really suitable for modern living," he remarked, as he checked out the outbuildings which could be used as a gym or an office. The garden was a bit of a jungle but big enough to create a nice outside space.
The property was purchased by Dominique, who bought it for £245,000. She had planned to follow her parents into property developing. She said: "This house is for investment. We'd like to rent it out and then maybe sell it along. I think further down we'd like to have a property portfolio, but for now we just want to get our foot in the door."
Dominique had planned to do a lot of the work herself, and ended up doing quite the transformation with the property. She wanted to give it a general facelift and try and make the outbuilding into part of the home.
When they returned to see the property, it was revealed that Dominique had spent a total of £65,000 on the renovations including plumbing and rewiring. An estate agent, who viewed the property the first time around, said the home had the "wow factor".
Speaking about the property, he said: "Well it's an amazing transformation! The selling point is definitely the wow factor. When you go into the huge open plan sitting room, dining room and kitchen, with the views through the garden. It's amazing."
