Home Alone legend unrecognisable as he reveals new career away from Hollywood
With Christmas just days away, people across the world will be getting into the festive spirit with the help of some classic Christmas films. From Love Actually to Elf, among the long list of movies that are sure to get viewers feeling more than festive is the 1990 film Home Alone.
But while viewers may be familiar with the plot of Kevin McCallister as he attempts to protect his family home from being robbed after being left alone over the holidays, they may be less familiar with what the cast are up to now. In fact, actor Daniel Stern, who played bad guy Marv in the film, has embarked on a whole new career.
More than three decades since starring in the Christmas classic, Daniel, 67, has created a TikTok account in which he has shown off his work as a sculptor making clay art. In one video, the actor showed off a sculpture of a woman lying backwards on a chair, adding that he’d be working on it for “four days”.

In the clip, Daniel, who has the same haircut and beard, just a little greyer, updated fans on his progress. “I thought I’d share a moment of a work in progress,” he said. “This is the body of a dancer I'm making. I cut her arms and legs and head off so I could work on this dress.
I’ve got all these wrinkles in the dress and now I’m putting this texture on it, which will look cool but it’s a matter of just putting a lot of tiny little pieces like that all over the dress. I’m gonna be doing this for about four days.”
In response to the sweet clip, fans of Daniel flocked to the comments section to express their joy over the clip. “Mr. Stern.. Let me just say you have given me such good holiday memories and I continue it with children of the amazing Marv,” wrote one.
“Same my man, your contribution to my childhood was made so good bc of Home Alone,” another commented. “You are a huge part of all of our childhoods and home alone is by far one of my favourite movies this time of year,” said a third.
In response to the comments, Daniel thanked fans for their support. “And thank you also for been a lover of my work if not for the loves I wouldn’t have been here,” he replied.
As well as starring in Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, Daniel has appeared in a range of different films and TV shows, including City Slickers, Stardust Memories and Breaking Away.
