Hollywood star Taron Egerton slates Jamie Oliver as he gives 'Welsh Christmas' insight to Netflix's 34m fans
Welsh actor Taron Egerton has appeared in a Netflix video in which he teaches the streaming platform's 34 million followers about the secrets to a Welsh Christmas. In the video, which you can watch below, the 35-year-old actor from Aberystwyth also confesses that Jamie Oliver's version of his mother's classic dessert wasn't a patch on the original.
Taron, who is currently starring in action thriller movie Carry-On released onNetflix on Friday, December 13, showed fans a recreation of the Mari Lwyd, though he didn't seem to recognise it, taught US viewers how to say "Nadolig Llawen a blwyddyn newydd dda" and said mayonnaise was an essential part of his Christmas dinner.
In a nod to his mother's contribution to his gifts on Christmas day, Taron said in the Instagram video for Netflix US: "She's not guarateed to buy me something, but she does always make this trifle and it's amazing.

"I prepared it once on Jamie Oliver's TV show, he made it, and don't tell Jamie, it was nowhere near as nice as my mother's. But because we were on live TV I had to eat it and go 'mmm.'
"But it was dry."

The Welsh actor, who was born on Merseyside before moving to Wales as a child stars as the main character, Ethan Kopek, a young TSA -customs officer in the USA, who is blackmailed to let a dangerous package slip through security and onto a Christmas Day flight. While promoting the film, the actor explained that the film is similar to the iconic Christmas film Die Hard, which starred American actor Bruce Willis as John McLane.
