Hollywood actress 'quietly marries' comedian fiancé in intimate ceremony
Olivia Munn and John Mulaney are believe to have secretly said their 'I dos' in a low-key ceremony at a friend's house in New York. The 44-year-old actress and the 41-year-old comedian, who are parents to Malcolm Hie, two, opted for a “simple, intimate ceremony.”
A source close to the couple confirmed the joyous news to People magazine. It was revealed that 'only their son and a witness were present' at the wedding.
This comes just four months after Olivia bravely shared her 'terrifying' breast cancer diagnosis. The X-Men: Apocalypse star has had her eggs frozen in preparation for future IVF treatments, as she underwent a hysterectomy due to the potential impact of chemotherapy and radiation on fertility.
"After my diagnosis, we decided to try one more round of egg retrievals and hoped it was a good month," she shared with Vogue on Mother's Day. She also disclosed that she had undergone the procedure three times at ages 33, 39 and most recently 42.
“John and I talked about it a lot and we don't feel like we're done growing our family, but didn't know if I would have to do chemotherapy or radiation,” she added. In the end, doctors managed to retrieve seven eggs, although their viability was uncertain, as typically only one in 10 eggs yield a healthy embryo for women in her age group.
“A few hours later, we got the call from my doctor. He shared that we had two healthy embryos,' the actress remembered. “John and I just started crying. It was just so exciting because not only did we get it in one retrieval, but it also meant that I didn't have to keep putting myself at risk. It was just amazing,” Olivia shared.
Last month, the duo sparked wedding whispers when John posted a snap of himself donning a wedding band, which he swiftly removed. Olivia and John have been an item since 2021, after his break up from former wife Anna Marie Tendler following nearly seven years of wedded bliss.
The pair welcomed their little one into the world in 2021, a year on from his stint in rehab and divorce. The ex-SNL writer announced the pregnancy news on Late Night With Seth Meyers, whose host had been part of his intervention in 2020.
He couldn't help but gush about their 'incredible' new relationship, saying: "Olivia and this baby have helped save me from myself in this early journey out of recovery."
