Highlights from the spring/summer 2025 shows in New York
The spring/summer 2025 ready-to-wear catwalk season has officially kicked off in New York, with hundreds more shows to come across London, Milan and Paris in the coming weeks.
Here, we round up everything you need to see from the new season, from the major A-list model moments (we've already been treated to appearances from Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell and Kendall Jenner), to the most beautiful collections. While there's plenty to look forward to in Europe, right now all eyes are on America for the New York schedule, which sees Alaïa, Toteme and Nanushka joining the line-up for the first time. Ralph Lauren kicked the proceedings off with a glamorous getaway in the Hamptons, while we're also looking forward to the latest catwalk spectacles from Tommy Hilfiger and Michael Kors.
We're also guaranteed to see some A-list talent gracing the front rows; the likes of Rihanna, Naomi Watts, Laura Dern, Gigi Hadid and Emily Ratjkowski are all in town and taking in the new collections from their favourite designers.
Below, we present the catwalk highlights from the spring/summer 2025 season so far.
Alaïa
Alaïa joined the New York Fashion Week schedule this season, with creative director Pieter Mulier showcasing his new collection (technically winter/spring 2025) at the Guggenheim Museum. The Belgian-born designer has long had an "obsession with the idea of American beauty", which he explored in full for this show. "For me, American beauty means freedom, of body and of spirit," he explained in the show notes. "A simplicity, a modernity and directness, a purity."
The museum was a particularly poignant location, having previously displayed Alaïa pieces alongside Andy Warhol works in a 2000 exhibition, and this event marked the first time that a catwalk show had been staged in its iconic rotunda – with the likes of Rihanna and Liv Tyler watching on from the front row. The clothing itself was shaped by the idea of showing in an American art museum, with a sculptural influence, fused with the ease and practicality of sportswear.

Ralph Lauren
Ralph Lauren kicked off New York Fashion Week with an extravagant fashion show set in the Hamptons – the designer's "home away from home". The "special fashion experience" in Bridgehampton featured a runway showcasing a mixture of Ralph Lauren Collection, Purple Label and Polo Ralph Lauren, including childrenswear, with the likes of Naomi Watts, Laura Dern and First Lady Dr Jill Biden on the front row, and Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington on the catwalk.
The Hamptons served not only as the setting but the design influence, resulting in a collection that embodied coastal sophistication, with louche draping inspired by the region's rugged shoreline, primarily in a colour palette of white and blue, "echoing the pristine sandy beaches, expansive cerulean skies, and the depths of the Atlantic Ocean".

After "the streamlining and paring back" in recent seasons, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez adopted a slightly more maximalist approach for spring/summer 2025, with an emphasis on craft, colour and print. "An ever-present urban quality is cut through with a wayfaring spirit," explained the show notes. "The reconciliation of the two are representative of the collection’s broader focus: finding harmony in traditionally incongruous elements."
Stripes featured heavily, as did fraying and fringing, while prints were painterly and abstract. A collaboration with Sorel footwear added a grounding element of practicality.
