High street dresses took over the 2017 Met Gala

While many celebrities favour mega-expensive couture gowns from the top fashion houses, others go down a less conventional route.

For the 2017 Met Gala, Topshop and H&M dressed a number of well-known stars in bespoke creations that rivalled the likes of Chanel and Givenchy on the red carpet.

H&M played to the event’s theme by exploring the themes that dominate designer Rei Kawakubo’s work. This translated into a daring dress for Nicki Minaj along with a more romantic design seen on Ashley Graham.

Meanwhile, Topshop picked its top model faces, opting for a dramatic gown for Candice Swanepoel and a more vintage metallic look for Sofia Richie.
