This "Hidden in Plain Sight" Find Keeps My Home Smelling Fresh
Even if I’m dealing with clutter or a lot of chores, one thing that always brings me peace at home is a pleasant fragrance. I have an extensive candle collection, more than a handful of reed diffusers (my latest is Pottery Barn’s Gingerbread Spice), and you can bet that every bedroom has its own dedicated room spray. One constant source of fragrance in my home is by way of scent diffusers.
Though I haven’t always made the best choices in the past, these days I intentionally aim for clean, safe scents that everyone in the home can enjoy. That goal eventually led me to discovering Pura, and I was fortunate to be given the opportunity to try out the new Pura Plus diffuser. I’m happy to say that the device helped to fill a gap in home fragrance that the main areas of my space seriously needed.

What is the Pura Plus?
While Pura is known for its editor-loved smart diffuser plug-in, the Pura Plus is the brand’s next step forward for home fragrances. The device is best suited for large and open spaces — including studio apartments — and is especially great for those with vaulted ceilings (like mine). Equipped with convenient smart features, the Pura Plus holds up to two scents at a time that can be programmed via app or controlled manually. Each scent lasts up to a month when diffusing eight hours or less per day, and possibly longer if diffusing for less than six hours per day. The scent offerings include options from highly popular fragrance brands like Homesick, Anthropologie, NEST New York, Capri Blue, and more.
Through the Pura app, you can switch between fragrances, control the scents’ intensity, schedule run times throughout the week, set timers to preserve the longevity of your fragrances, and even search and shop for replacement scents. The Pura Plus also features adaptive diffusion, which “reads the room’s temperature and adjusts according to your preferences for a consistent, reliable scenting experience.” The device comes with a USB-C power cord (block included) for a quick and easy setup.
Why I Love the Pura Plus
When it comes to smart diffusers, Pura is my go-to. I have two plug-ins that are great for the bedrooms, and the Pura Plus was the perfect addition for the communal areas of my home. My living room and kitchen are separated by a wall, but there’s a large, open entryway between the two. To make the most out of the Pura Plus, I placed it in the dining area that marks the middle point between the main area of the kitchen and the living room where everyone hangs out.
To get started, Pura sent me a Pura Plus Set with two fabulous fall scents — Anthropologie’s Leather & Leaves and Homesick’s Pumpkin Picking. They were just the right fragrances to give my home a cozy feel as soon as anyone walked through the door. Setting up the Pura Plus couldn’t have been easier: The app walks you step-by-step through the process from connecting the device to your home wi-fi and installing each premium scent refill. It took some trial and error for me to know the right schedule and intensity for the size of my home, but now it’s smooth sailing. Pro tip: You don’t have to run the diffuser all day to enjoy a great-smelling home.
I’m totally sold on the Pura Plus, and it’s only an added benefit that I can access all three of my smart diffusers through a single app. It doesn’t take up a lot of space, so I can easily tuck it close to the wall, and because the airflow is directed upwards, I don’t have to worry about the scent being blocked if I place other items near it. All in all, it’s a total win in my book!
