What you need

How to make an autumn leaf garland

1. Cut simple leaf shapes from the felt fabric in two different colours.

2. Take a contrasting colour of yarn and use a chain stitch to embroider the stem of the leaf. Afterward, use a simple running stitch to create the veins of the leaf.

3. Stitch a loop to the base of each leaf shape using the yarn and needle. Once the loops are secure, thread the red jute twine through the loops on the felt leaves and hang on a mantelpiece.

TIP: Add variety and experiment with different leaf sizes and colours.
