I Am Greta, a behind-the-scenes documentary charting Greta Thunberg's galvanizing school strike for climate change, will be released in the UK on Friday 16th October — and we can't wait to see it.

In August of 2018, Greta was an unknown 15-year-old student from Sweden, who began a school strike for the climate. Her question for adults was this: 'If you don't care about her future on this planet, why should she care about her future in school?'

Within months, Greta's strike turned into a global movement, as school children from across the world joined the #FridaysForFuture strikes and marched to demand politicians start taking serious steps to tackle climate change.

In this intimate documentary, Swedish environmental filmmaker, Nathan Grossman, shares Greta's story through compelling, never-before-seen footage. Starting with her one-person school strike for climate justice outside the Swedish Parliament, Grossman follows Greta in her rise to prominence, and her impelling global impact as she sparks school strikes around the world.

The film culminates with her inspirational wind powered voyage across the Atlantic Ocean to speak at the UN Climate Action Summit in New York City, where she delivers an impassioned speech to politicians that reverberates across the world.

Greta addressed the summit and said: "You all come to us young people for hope. How dare you? You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words, and yet, I’m one of the lucky ones. People are suffering. People are dying. Entire ecosystems are collapsing."

She concluded: "You are failing us. But young people are starting to understand your betrayal. The eyes of all future generations are upon you. And if you choose to fail us, I say - we will never forgive you."

I Am Greta is released in UK and Irish cinemas on Friday 16th October following its world premiere at Venice Film Festival on Friday 4th September.
