What you need

  • PaintBox yarns cotton DK (100% cotton): 1 ball of each in shades Royal Blue 441, Pillar red 415 and Paper white 401 and Glorious Gold 466

  • 3.5mm crochet hook

Abbreviations

Ch chain; ch-sp chain space; dc double crochet; htr half treble crochet; RS right side; sl st slip stitch; st(s) stitch(es); tr treble crochet; WS wrong side;* repeat the instructions following the single asterisk as directed; [] repeat instructions within the brackets as directed.

Approximately 150cm in length

Crochet bunting free pattern

Rose

Make 3 in red, 3 in blue and 3 in White.

Using 3.5mm crochet hook, ch42.

Row 1 (WS): Starting in second ch from hook, dc, [ch2, skip next ch, 1dc in next ch] rep to end, turn. (21dc)

Row 2 (RS): ch1, [3htr, ch1, sl st] in next ch-sp, *[sl st, ch1, 3htr, ch1, sl st] in next ch-sp, rep from * to end. (20 petals)

Fasten off. Roll up into a flower shape so the foundation ch is at the WS in a spiral shape, using ends secure the flower shape and weave in ends.

Crowns

Make 8 using Gold.

Using 3.5mm crochet hook, ch10.

Row 1 (WS): Starting in second ch from hook, dc to end, turn. (9dc)

Row 2 (RS): ch3, [skip next st, tr in next st, tr in stitch missed] 4 times, turn. (9tr)

Row 3: ch1, dc to end.

Row 4: ch8, miss first 3 sts, tr in next st, ch6, miss next st, tr in next st, ch8, sl st in last st, turn.

Row 5: ch1, 8dc in 8ch loop, [3dc, 3ch, 3dc] in 6 ch loop, 8dc in final 8 ch loop, sl st in last ch, fasten off.

Weave in ends.

Bunting

Using 3.5mm crochet hook and Blue, ch12, sl st into furthest ch from hook, *ch16, with RS facing, sl st into centre htr st of any outside petal on a red rose, ch16, with RS facing sl st into 3ch loop at top of 1 crown; rep from * 7 times adding the roses in colour sequence (red, white and blue) with crowns in-between, ch16, sl st into centre htr st of any outside petal on a last rem blue rose, ch16, pm, ch12, sl st into marked ch. fasten off. Weave in ends.
