BB, CC and DD creams are the latest skincare/make up hybrid to take the beauty world by storm. They’ve have become extremely popular in both the drugstore and Sephora and range from affordable to luxury. But what exactly do the letters stand for? What’s the difference between them? And most importantly, which ones should you use? We break it down for you:

BB Creams

BB Creams are a staple in Korean skin care but have only recently become super popular over the last few years. A BB cream is a ‘beauty balm’ that acts as a do it all base with skin care benefits. This clever little product evens out the skin tone with added sun protection and a moisturizing formula meaning you have all of your products in one handy tube. Although the coverage is minimal it’s a great base to start with to blur imperfections and enhance your natural complexion without masking it.

Overall you end up applying less makeup and therefore resulting in a more radiant and natural look. BB Creams are also great for blemish prone skin as they let pores breath and are less likely to trigger breakouts.

CC Creams

CC Creams are more focused on colour correcting the skin tone rather than enhancing a fresh faced look like the BB. However, the difference between the two is pretty subtle so it’s all down to personal preference.

CC creams are meant to address issues like redness or lacklustre skin by containing light diffusing particles to essentially brighten your appearance. Just like the BB they are more than just your average tinted moisturizer. CC Creams also reduce the appearances of dark spots and evens out skin tone.

DD Cream

Finally, the latest innovation is the DD Cream or the “dynamic do-all" as they are otherwise known. A super cream that combines the power of both the BB and CC in one. However, their primary focus is to combat the signs on anti-ageing by diminishing wrinkles and fine lines with its light weight formula. Additionally the DD cream will help to protect the skin against damage and act as a daily defence barrier.
