Heads Up 'Fire Country' Fans — You Won't Like This Frustrating Episode News
This story contains light spoilers from Fire Country season 2.
Fire Country season 2 is airing new episodes Fridays at 9 p.m. ET on CBS, and the drama is already hot and blazing.
Amid the shock of Bode Leone (Max Thieriot) spending six months in prison after falsely claiming he relapsed from drugs to protect his friend, fans were thrilled to see him find his way back to Three Rock. But just as the inmate changed during his second stint in jail, things on the outside changed for his loved ones in Edgewater.
His mom Sharon (Diane Farr) went off to fight a series of campaign fires, leaving Bode's dad Vince (Billy Burke) to pick up the pieces while running the Station 42 team at Cal Fire. His ex Gabriela (Stephanie Arcila) is now engaged to a new firefighter, while her dad Manny (Kevin Alejandro) was fired as the overseer of Three Rock. What's more, Bode's friend Eve (Jules Latimer) stepped in for Manny, while his best friend Jake (Jordan Calloway) shocked him with news about Bode potentially having more family than he ever expected.
We know it's a lot to take in, and this is all before the group embarks on dangerous rescue missions week after week. But sometimes, things need to change, and it looks like fans may be surprised to learn Fire Country will not air a new episode tonight.
When is Fire Country returning with new episodes?
Folks may want to sound the fire alarm, because Fire Country will return to CBS with a new episode on March 15, 2024 at 9 p.m. ET.
While the social media accounts for Fire Country never explicitly explained why there won't be a new installment, we did some digging and found out what's going on. According to the official Instagram for S.W.A.T. star Shemar Moore, it looks like the procedural drama will air two back-to-back episodes instead of just one in its usual 8 p.m. ET slot.
"DOUBLE DOWN on @swatcbs this Friday with BACK TO BACK all new episodes starting at 8PM on @cbstv‼️" he wrote confirming the news on March 4. "I SAID WHAT I SAID 😜💣💥🔥."
If that wasn't enough to explain what's going on, it turns out Fire Country let fans know ahead of time that a switch-up was set to occur. When the show aired the promo for the March 15 episode, there was a cue card at the beginning of the ad that read, "New in two weeks."
This gave folks a heads up something was changing in the airing schedule, and they should expect to wait until the week after to see what's up with Bode.
What's more, an official release from CBS is already detailing what's to come for Fire Country season 2. According to the announcement made in February, the upcoming fourth episode (titled "Too Many Unknowns") will see Three Rock and Station 42 "respond to a chemical plant after a dangerous toxic spill goes up in flames."
Let's just say we'll be all prepared to see what comes next!
