Harry Styles teams up with Calm app to read soothing bedtime stories to fans

Harry Styles has teamed up with meditation app Calm to narrate sleep stories for fans.

On Sunday, Calm teased the collaboration with a tweet that featured a series of emojis including a watermelon, z’s, a book, “soon” and a bed, alongside with the words: “This Wednesday.”

On Monday, the app followed up with an official teaser video that ended with Harry channelling his inner bedtime story-teller, saying: “Hello. I’m Harry Styles.”

Calm also revealed that the stories narrated by the former One Direction star, titled “Dream with Me”, will be available from Wednesday 8 July.

The tweet, which has since received more than 92,000 likes, sent fans of the “Watermelon Sugar” singer wild, with many rushing to comment on the exciting news.

“I’M SCREAMING #DreamWithHarry,” one person tweeted, while another wrote: “I'M GONNA SLEEP LIKE A BABY FROM NOW OMG.”

Another fan was so excited by the short clip of Harry’s voice that they admitted they weren’t sure if they could get through the entire narration, commenting: “I ALREADY CAN’T HANDLE A 2 SECOND CLIP, I WON’T BE ABLE TO FUNCTION AFTER THE FULL CLIP.”

Harry has been an ardent supporter of Calm, which helps users sleep better and reduce stress and anxiety with the help of guided meditations, soothing music and bedtime stories. In 2018, the singer helped raise millions of pounds for the app in a round of funding led by Insight Venture Partners and actor Ashton Kutcher.

Many of Harry’s fans thanked the singer for taking an interest in their mental health and well-being.

“I just love how he finds a way to be there for us,” one person tweeted. “Thank you, @Harry_Styles & @calm Looking forward to whatever you have planned.”

Another added: “This is exactly what I needed to hear today. Thank you, honestly!”

Harry is not the only celebrity to narrate bedtime stories for the app, with the likes of Stephen Fry and Matthew McConaughey also helping users unwind in the evenings.

McConaughey’s story, titled “Wonder”, has been written by Chris Advansun, and lasts for 35 minutes. This includes two minutes of prologue, with the actor asking deep questions like: “How often do we ponder the depth of the present moment?”

The app offers around 120 such sleep stories, including classic fairy tales, so-called music sleep stories, and even some recordings of late public television star and artist Bob Ross.
