Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have recently signed a two-year lease on a Cotswolds cottage, and now they've enlisted the help of a celebrity interior designer to get their country home ready for the arrival of their first child.

The designer, Vicky James, reportedly comes highly recommended by four of the couple's most famous wedding guests: the Clooneys and the Beckhams.

In fact, the Sussexes may well have been inspired to give her a call after visiting David and Victoria's home on the same Great Tew estate as their cottage. "[David] didn’t want frou frou, but also wanted to be respectful of the period," Vicky told The Times in a rare interview earlier this year.

Vicky is one half of a highly sought-after interior design duo, Charles & Co – the studio she set up in 2016 with James Corden's wife, Julia, after working as Head of Design for exclusive private member's club, Soho House Group, for 20 years. The pair work for high-profile clients including Gwyneth Paltrow, Gordon Ramsey, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher, and Liv Tyler.

Meghan is said to be a huge fan of the Soho House Group's Soho Farmhouse, which is on the doorstep of their new country retreat. The Duchess of Sussex reportedly held her hen party there, and the couple are regular visitors on weekends in Oxfordshire.

Now, Meghan wants to emulate the same worn-in British country house glamour found at the Soho House Group in their Cotswold's rental. But don't expect any Instagram shots of the Sussexes new interiors.

Vicky told The Times that she spends a minimum of two years working with clients – and trust is imperative.

"You learn a lot about people from designing their bedrooms. You have to go through a period of complete trust," she said.

And Charles & Co. will no doubt have plenty of ideas about what works in the royal nursery.

"The experience of living with kids is invaluable," Julia added. "Knowing what fabric to use on something the kids are likely to wipe their nose on... We keep it real."
