H&M's aviator jacket is our high-street style of the season
If there's one jacket style you can guarantee will never go out of fashion, it's the aviator. Marrying cosy and chic to cool-girl perfection, this iconic coat is one we always reach for when the mercury plummets. Because who wouldn't want to be enveloped in fluffy shearling while also winning in the style stakes?
The aviator jackets du jour are cut to an oversized fit for that 'borrowed from the boys' look that we love. Buckles at the collar and hem add toughness, while shearling trims soften up an otherwise heavily masculine piece of outerwear.
These aviator, or shearling, jackets can be expensive, especially if made from leather. However, there are now plenty of high-street options to consider that look like the real deal but are crafted from 'pleather' – aka plastic leather – and come with more affordable price tags.
Our favourite such style of the season has just dropped at H&M, and we're pleasantly surprised that it's still in stock in all sizes from XS to XXL, or 4 to 34. This £74.99 aviator jacket in the most delicious shade of caramel brown looks much more expensive, so much so that we'd easily mistake it for designer.

Like H&M's model, and the fashion influencers flooding our Instagram feeds, we love throwing a boxy aviator jacket over a preppy dress worn with socks and loafers, and keeping the colours tonal. They're also an easy way to 'cool-up' a simple jumper and jeans. In short, a brown or black aviator jacket will go with everything already in your wardrobe, effortlessly freshening up your go-to looks.
