H&M has revealed that its next "radiant" designer collaboration will be with Rabanne, and we could not more be excited to shop it as soon as it launches next month.

Ever since its late Spanish founder Paco Rabanne blazed a trail with his era-defining Sixties creations (space-age sequins and chainmail, anyone?), Rabanne has been winning over hearts and dancefloors worldwide.

To celebrate joining forces for a collection that "flirts with fantasy, dances through decades and dreams about the future", the high street brand and luxury fashion house hosted a party at the legendary Silencio nightclub in Paris earlier this month.

The starry guestlist of industry insiders included Iris Law, Irina Shayk, Cher, Robyn and Elle Fanning, all of whom rocked up wearing key looks from the high-energy new collection, which H&M describes as "bringing together the carefree exuberance of the Seventies, the optimistic futurism of Rabanne and a touch of retro-inflected romance".

H&M told us to expect "a modern vision of approachable opulence, joy and confidence", and now, a first look at the collection has proved that this was no false promise.

The latest lookbook images reveal plenty of Rabanne's "signature metallic opulence" – particularly in on-trend silver – as well as looking in fresh directions. For special occasions, there's a floor-length tiered chiffon gown bejewelled with crystals and a rich floral jacquard cut-out dress.

Elsewhere, you'll find a crisp poplin button-up with broderie anglaise detailing and oversized pleated sleeves, structured wool outerwear, elegant jersey knit separates and lots and lots of leopard print.

Here are just a few of the outfits that we're most looking forward to shopping – we've already got our beady eyes on those sparkly sequin bags and metallic cowboy boots:

Julien Cossena, creative director at Rabanne, described H&M x Rabanne as "playful" and said he wanted people to "feel liberated" when wearing it.

"I've always been interested in exploring hedonism and empowerment," he said. "I wave very enthusiastic to work with H&M on a collection that will introduce Rabanne's avant-garde energy to a wider audience in a democratic way."

Meanwhile, Ann-Sofie Johansson, head of design for womenswear and creative advisor at H&M, described the new range as "show-stopping" and "made for floor-filling moments". Shouting out Rabanne's metallic dresses as "instantly recognisable pieces of fashion history", she promised H&M customers "a dazzling array of Rabanne designs".

So, it sounds like H&M x Rabanne is going to be the destination for glam party season looks this year.

Of course, what we really want to know is: when can we start adding all of it to our baskets? Well, H&M x Rabanne will launch online and in selected stores on 9 November, so pen that date into your diary now and get in early before everything flies off the shelves.

Because it will. H&M's designer collaborations are rare in uniting high-end fashion with affordability, so it's little wonder that they are always instant sell-outs. H&M x Mugler saw huge success earlier this year, while past hit collaborations have been with the likes of Mugler, Erdem, Isabel Marant, Marni, Karl Lagerfeld, Kenzo, Jimmy Choo and Versace.

Better still, H&M x Rabanne covers homeware as well as womenswear, menswear and accessories, marking the first time that the fashion house has designed for the home. Promising the most extensive interiors offering ever introduced in an H&M designer collab, you can expect everything from accent furniture and angled vases to a "gleaming disc curtain" that we can't wait to see. Everything will have Rabanne's signature sheen.

Suffice to say, H&M x Rabanne is going to be ripe for early Christmas shopping – be it for our loved ones or ourselves. So, seriously, put 9 November in your diary in red caps.
