Gypsy Rose Blanchard has had a dramatic makeover since she was released from prison in December, having served eight-and-a-half years of a 10 year sentence. The former felon, now 32, was jailed back in 2016 for helping her boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn to murder her mother Dee Dee Blanchard.

Gypsy faced horrific abuse at the hands of her late mother, who suffered from Munchausen syndrome by proxy and claimed that Gypsy suffered from an array of different health issues. During her childhood, Gypsy was forced to undergo a number of unnecessary medical treatments, including the unnecessary removal of her saliva glands and insertion of a feeding tube.

She was also forced to pose as a wheelchair-bound leukaemia patient. Gypsy was released on parole on December 28 and has subsequently made a number of TV appearances, including the eight part docuseries, Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up.

She has also met Kim Kardashian and now boasts over 14 million followers on social media. She has made a name for herself on the video-sharing app TikTok, where she has posted a number of prison makeup hacks and recipes.

Speaking ahead of the release of Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up, Gypsy has spoken to The Daily Mirror about watching Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding live from jail, and how she's begun to understand and sympathise with her mother.

Discussing the Royal Wedding, she said: "I watched Kate and William’s wedding live and I’ve always just found British culture really interesting." And asked how who her favourite Royal is, Gypsy replied: "It’s Princess Kate. She’s just so classy. She’s a sweetheart."

And opening up about her feelings towards her late mother, she emotionally shared: "I now feel more sympathy towards my mother. I regret the fact I made the decision to end her life as a way out."

Gypsy also shared her plans to raise awareness for Munchausen syndrome. She told the outlet: "I can bring light to the situation and be a voice for the voiceless. I want to spread awareness of mental health and awareness of Munchausen syndrome by proxy as, obviously, it’s what my mum had.”

She also hopes that the new series can show that her mum was not a monster, but was suffering from a a mental illness. She said: "I hope she would be proud of the woman I am becoming, the woman that I have built myself up to be today."
